Window Sticker

What is a Window Sticker?

A window sticker, required on all new cars in the U.S., provides key details about the vehicle and its manufacturer. It lists features, available options, and packages, and is typically placed on the driver’s side window or windshield.

Following the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958, introduced by Oklahoma Senator Mike Monroney, the NHTSA and EPA updated the rule in May 2011. Starting with 2013 models, the label must include estimated fuel or electricity use per 100 miles, giving drivers a clear idea of energy consumption. This update is especially important for electric, plug-in hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, flexible-fuel, and natural gas vehicles made in the United States.
